Wedding Portrait Artist that loves drawing.

“When I draw I do realism so it is very straightforward but when I paint figures I want them to have an ethereal feeling.”

Every painting is a small window that captures a moment, a feeling or the place that brings back memories to my mind. My memories and what i feel at the moment inspires me, so i always have unlimited sources of inspiration.

At what age did you know you wanted to be an artist?

When I was a little boy, I drew in pencil all the time. Then I discovered that with colored pencils I could introduce new dimensions into my drawings. By the time I was 12 I had determined that I would be an artist. But because Artist is a title that you earn, it took many years of study and practice before I felt like one. As Charles Eames said: It’s the work that matters.

What is the earliest artwork you did that you can remember?

I was very very young and the memory is a little foggy but it was two soldiers that I saw from a comic book and wanted to draw them. There is not a particular story behind it but a feeling that i still have when i draw or paint. I feel like I escape from reality and time stops.

Which classical or contemporary artists have inspired you?

Vincent van Gogh has inspired me mostly because of his determination. Also he quoted “I dream my painting and I paint my dream.” And this is something that I can relate to when I paint.

How would you describe your artistic style?

When I draw I do realism so it is very straightforward but when I paint figures I want them to have an ethereal feeling.

When did you first sell an artwork? How did you feel?

My first sale was an artistic nude drawing. At the time it really did not feel well because I never sold my Art, I kept everything or gave them as gifts. It felt wrong to sell them. This was at a rather young age though, in my teens. When I started working as an artist I sold a painting of an abstract sunset and it was  an amazing feeling. A feeling that i replicate the memory of it every time i sell now.

What's your workstyle? Do you work on one piece at a time or work simultaneously on multiple pieces?

I strictly work on one piece at the time because I give my full love and dedication to every single thing I create and I want to fully focus on it.

How do you get the inspiration for a new piece?

Every painting is a small window that captures a moment, a feeling or the place that brings back memories to my mind. My memories and what i feel at the moment inspires me, so i always have unlimited sources of inspiration

Tell us a bit about your personal life ...

There were only a handful of times when i didn’t draw or paint and those were dark, hard times that only the love of my childhood sweetheart, best friend and now wife helped me overcome.

Art is for me a continuous journey of discovery that lasts a lifetime.
