Jessica Sawyers
Chicago, USA
abstract artist
I hope my art can bring joy to others. I found my way back to painting at a tough time in my life, but going through all of that had made me truly thankful for the beauty in each day. My favorite saying, which basically can be a title for all of my art is “if my mistakes have lead me here, I never want perfection again”. My missed steps in life brought me to this place- a place I never knew I so badly wanted to be
Jessica Sawyers – lively, abstract art!
My art is fun loving and lively. Abstract, and a bit weird sometimes, but always made with love.

At what age did you know you wanted to be an artist?
I think I was about 6 years old. I just loved to paint and draw. I spent a lot of my free time with my water color set and endless pieces of paper.
What is the earliest artwork you did that you can remember?
I always loved trying to draw and paint our home. I think that it was the happiest place for me, even though we may not have had a lot when I was young, I always remember being happy and never wanting to be in any other house, just mine.
Which classical or contemporary artists have inspired you?
I can honestly say that I don’t have a particular inspiration, I find most other artist inspiring.
How would you describe your artistic style?
Fun loving and lively. Abstract, and a bit weird sometimes, but always made with love.
When did you first sell an artwork? How did you feel?
My first real sale was in 2014 to a complete stranger- she bought a small 12×12 piece for $60 and it felt amazing.
What's your workstyle? Do you work on one piece at a time or work simultaneously on multiple pieces?
generally only work on one piece at a time, and I try to work on it in the longest spans of time I can each day in order to help the colors and patterns flow.
How do you get the inspiration for a new piece?
I’m inspired by nature, dreams, movements and emotions.
